Meet Heather: Qualified Counsellor & Neurodiversity Specialist.

Hello, I'm Heather, a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I specialise in supporting autistic people, individuals with ADHD, Tourette's syndrome, disabilities, and a range of mental health concerns. I provide warm, compassionate, fully accessible online counselling for people aged 16 and over, offering a safe space where you can be yourself without judgement.

My mission is to provide an inclusive, accessible, and compassionate space where you feel genuinely accepted. I believe therapy should help you better understand yourself, recognise your strengths, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, self-identifying, living with disability, or simply looking for someone who understands, you are welcome here.

My Story

My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I am diagnosed with ADHD, autism, and Tourette's syndrome, and I also live with physical disabilities, including being a wheelchair user.

My brother also has ADHD and autism, giving me both personal and family insight into neurodivergence. I understand the challenges of masking, burnout, feeling misunderstood, and navigating a world that isn't always designed for neurodivergent or disabled people.

While my experiences help me empathise, I recognise that everyone's journey is unique, and my role is to understand and support yours.

My Therapeutic Approach

I work using the Relational Integrative Model of counselling, placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of our work.

I tailor therapy to each individual, drawing on different approaches to meet your needs rather than expecting you to fit a particular model.

My practice is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, disability-aware, and centred on compassion, collaboration, and respect.

My Qualifications and Training

I combine lived experience with extensive professional training, including:

✔ Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling

✔ Master's in Understanding Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health

✔ Bachelor's Degree in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

✔ Registered Member of the BACP

I regularly complete CPD in:

✔ Autism

✔ ADHD

✔ Tourette's syndrome

✔ Neurodiversity-affirming practice

✔ Disability inclusion

Additionally, I hold Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) and Deaf Awareness, helping me adapt my communication to meet individual client needs.

Accessibility and Inclusion

Accessibility is central to my practice. As a neurodivergent and disabled counsellor, I understand the importance of adapting therapy to the individual.

I offer:

✔ Fully online counselling

✔ Flexible communication styles

✔ Adjustments for sensory, communication, cognitive, and physical needs

✔ An inclusive, affirming environment

✔ A pace that respects your energy and wellbeing

Together, we'll discuss any adjustments that help you feel comfortable and supported.

How I Support Clients

I work with clients aged 16+ experiencing challenges including:

✔ ADHD, autism and Tourette's syndrome

✔ Disability and chronic illness

✔ Anxiety and depression

✔ Stress and burnout

✔ Low self-esteem

✔ Identity and self-acceptance

✔ Emotional regulation

✔ Relationships and life transitions

You do not need a formal diagnosis to access counselling. Together we can explore your experiences, build self-understanding, develop practical strategies, reduce overwhelm, improve confidence, and support you to live more authentically in a way that works for you.
