Meet Chrissy: Your Specific Learning Difficulties Assessor

Hi, I’m Chrissy, a qualified Specialist Teacher and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) assessor. I provide diagnostic assessments for children, young people, and adults, helping individuals to understand their learning profiles and access support to reach their full potential.

My interest in dyslexia started early, watching close family members face ongoing challenges with reading, writing, and confidence at school and beyond.

Three of my closest relatives and several extended-family members are dyslexic, and from that lived proximity I developed both empathy and dedication to meaningful assessment and support. I’m also neurodivergent myself, with diagnoses of ADHD and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/dyspraxia), and I come from a neurodivergent family.

This lived experience gives me deep empathy for the assessment process — I understand both the challenges and the empowerment that can come from gaining clarity about how your brain works.

Professional Background

I hold professional recognition as an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA), hold an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) with the BDA, and maintain membership with PATOSS and the Dyslexia Guild (MDG).

These accreditations allow me to diagnose dyslexia in children and adults, DCD/dyspraxia post-16, and to conduct educational assessments for university students to identify ADHD in support of Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) applications.

How I Work

Assessments are completed online from the comfort of your own home. My approach is strengths-based, person-centred and practical.

I believe assessments should do more than identify challenges — they should build understanding, highlight strengths, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.

Whether you’re a parent seeking clarity for your child, a student navigating higher education, or an adult exploring your own learning profile, I’m here to develop understanding and help individuals to flourish and meet their potential.

Who I Work With

I work with children, young people, and adults across a range of educational and professional settings. I offer diagnostic assessments for dyslexia, DCD/dyspraxia (post-16), and educational assessments for university students with ADHD to support Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) applications.

My work is guided by empathy, clarity, and the belief that every person deserves to understand their strengths and why they’ve experienced ongoing challenges with learning.
